This beer was first brewed a as challenge to New Zealand lading brewers to come up with an International Lager style beer. This beer went onto win Les Amis Du Vin Competition four years in a row in the late 70s and was politely asked to stop entering to give the other brewers a chance. In 1985 Steinlager was judged " The Worlds Best Lager" by the Brewers International Competition held in London.
When poured this beer is a light golden colour beer with a white head and carbonation providing hints of apple and citrus on the nose. On tasting the beer has a distinctive taste of sweet earthy hop flavour and light malt characters delivering a clean and crisp bitterness. One of the strongest macro lagers on the market with many quaffable properties!
